Healthy Relationships Peer Educator:

Job Description:

  • Promote healthy relationships. Provide opportunities for critical thinking with the ultimate goal of helping students reach their full potential and form their own strategies to promote and create a safe and just society
  • Focus efforts to co-facilitate Bystander Intervention workshops for classrooms, student organizations, and campus departments
  • Work with professional staff to create, implement, evaluate and evolve interactive presentations/events to promote healthy relationships, consent, bystander intervention and support for victims/survivors
  • Represent the Women’s Center as a key paraprofessional staff member
  • Promote an inclusive campus and a welcoming center through working at the Women’s Center front desk
  • Serve as a good role model and ethical decision-maker at all times, both on and off campus
  • Earn internship credit through relevant academic departments (optional)
  • Participate in other duties as assigned.
  • Serve 10, 15 or 18 hours per week during the 2017 Spring semester, earning $9.25 per hour
  • Participate in paid training sessions upon hire and at the beginning of each academic year

Required Qualifications:

  • Must be enrolled at least part-time at Boise State University with a minimum of 6 credits (undergraduate) or 5 credits (graduate) per semester
  • Must be in good standing with the University
  • Computer experience required. Preferred experience in such programs as MS Word, Excel and Publisher and proficient ability to navigate the Internet
  • Some experience in customer service
  • Must have a minimum cumulative and semester GPA of 2.5 (undergraduates) or provide an explanation of your academic standing

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Excellent organizational, time management, and communication skills
  • Experience with presentations and/or event planning
  • Ability to be flexible and adapt to situations
  • Ability and willingness to serve as a positive role model to other students
  • A familiarity with gender based violence, violence prevention and the intersections of oppression, or a willingness to learn
  • Bilingual
